The Chrisp Street retail centre is on the Lansbury Estate, which was part of the 1951 Festival of Britain and was the first specially designed pedestrianised shopping centre in the UK.
This traditional east end area is filled with history and also has its own unique prominent modern day iconic features too. With the recent opening of the landmark new Idea Store (designed by David Adjaye Associates) and significant environmental improvements, the market is worth a visit for its architectural value alone.
Add to that the shopping opportunities, fantastic local characters full of charm and spirit and the wide range of events; Chrisp Street is a destination not to be missed.
